Gotta have that all built ahead of time. Trying to craft and grind to get all that with a half-built base is just begging to get wrecked.

I think we need a new guide for this! The one above is based on a lot of old meta, despite being posted to youtube in august (it's almost a year out of date)...

Key issues:

1) Catwalks are very very overrated; giant hatchframes provide far improved coverage for a given turret (can shoot down, in more directions) - or fence foundations placed perpendicular to a wall if you're too cheap for hatchframes :)

2) Power for all those turrets isn't addressed at all! This is a very very big part of building; if someone can blow your door and then has access to unprotected cables, you have lost. There are a bunch of techniques for this, but the basic principal is that all cables should be protected by metal in some way.

3) It's really really small!!!! Not even high enough for a BEH gate! Perhaps an OK size part way through the building up process, but as a final base this is tiny.

4) Way too many plant x. The debuff from these used to stack to the point that a dino or player could no longer move (if they were still alive). The stacking mechanic was removed, so now you just want to ensure that an attacker is hit by one plant to apply the debuff. Having tons of plants just increases your maintenance costs with the additional fert needed to keep them up.

5) Wall design doesn't really work - you could run up to that avoiding the plants with a little movement speed and stand under them without being attacked - or you could run up with a giga or similar and munch the plants. This is a bit of an odd design in that it's relatively high cost (metal) but not really defended.
With walls you either go cheap or go hard. If you're going cheap, you just build a ring of stone behemoth gates at your turrets' max range. This means that griefers can't just snipe/flame/compound everything outside your base without spending some explosives. If you are actually being hit, the gates won't do much at all - but by being at max range, they aren't hindering your defences either. The "go hard" choice can be done in a couple of ways - either a structure that your defences can shoot through like a pillar or railing wall (railing is better), or a properly defended perimeter which is actually a 1 or 2 deep metal building that surrounds your base, with redundant power, turrets, plants and defensive positions.
